I quit. And, EBEW polka dots.

I’m feeling very overwhelmed by this 30 for 30. My original idea behind participating was to ease my way into dressing for a new job, but that was thrown out of whack when I discovered the dress code was very different. I wanted to take a page from Erin’s book and finalize my remaning outfits in one, long, glorious post, but that didn’t happen.

Part of the reason behind that is because I lost about five outfits by not photographing them, and I really didn’t want to put them on just to take photos. Yes, I got lazy. The second is because I’m just sick of the pieces I picked. They don’t really go well with my new job and I can’t wear the same damn jeans to work everyday. So I quit. Love me or hate me, I’m done.

That is why today, EBEW polka dot day, I am not in my 30×30 pieces. I’m in regular, found in the closet pieces. And I’m totally fine with it.

I had so much fun during my last two 30×30 challeges, but I wish I would’ve sat this one out because I’m now feeling the burn out.

Plus (and let’s be honest here), I didn’t want to restrict myself to only 30×30 pieces for this weekend. That would just be silly.

My name is Suze, and I am a 30×30 dropout.

Wow. Finally home in enough time to take photos outdoors again! I love spring. It’s finally lighter outside when I get out of work, and the snow is (sorta of) beginning to melt!

Joe and I went to see “I am Number 4” today, and it was decent. I wouldn’t go see it again, but I do want to see the sequel(s). It’s like a mix between Harry Potter, Alien and Twilight. Have you been to the movies/seen a movie lately? Which one, and was it any good? I’m always in the mood for a good movie.

If you head over to Everybody, Everywhere today, you’ll see a DIY I did for polka dotted shoes. It’s quick, easy and cheap.

Today’s outfit was all about comfort. I’m really enjoying the freedom I have with my sartorial choices at my new job. I walked in yesterday in lilac tights and today I wore this super awesome hair feather. Oddly enough, no one said anything. 🙂 I plan to do a review of the heather feather shortly, because it comes with instructions of how to add it. And, awesome news, Anika Burke said they will give one away when I post my review! Yay!!

I’m thinking I’ll retake the photos of the three outfits I missed, because they were really nice and I want to share them. In other news, I accidentally labeled two different outfits as #18, so this is officially #21. Just so you know, sometimes I can count and sometimes I (obviously) can’t!

I’m behind by three days and fighting my cat!

I am behind by three days on photos, meaning I wore the outfits and either didn’t take photos or haven’t loaded them. Woo hoo.So, therefore, you guys will either miss three days, or I can go back, take the photos and post them all on the same day. Choose wisely 🙂

I also cannot believe I’ll be in Texas in a little over a week! Get ready ladies, we’re going to have so much fun!

(Short on words, long on style. Or something.)

A quick outfit, update and FBFF blogger nominations!

18 of 30

Top: Tucker for Target
Jeans: Old
Vest: Banana Republic
Necklace: Charlotte Russe
Shoes (can’t see): Forever 21

Today’s update is short, because I’m sure everyone wants to get onto the FBFF blogger nominations (thanks to everyone who’s nominated me for anything, by the way. I’m completely blown away and touched that you guys would think of me!). But before I do that, I want to say hi to Burke! I’m told that she reads my blog everyday with her mom and that she loves my fancy necklaces! I love fancy necklaces too, as you can tell!

FBFF nominations:

1. Creative Juices (most creative): I’ve got to give it up to Louise from Coffee and a Cardigan. She never ceases to amaze me with her outfits. They’re fun, creative and she goes to work in them, then home to play with her daughter in them! Amazing.

2. The Real Deal (authenticity): She’s probably one of the very first people I ever “talked” to in the blogger world, Jenni from Pixie in Pumps. We don’t know each other (IRL), but I feel like I know her. The way she blogs, her tweets, her emails and her packages (thanks for the yummy treats!) makes me feel like we’re BFFs.

3. Spark Notes (most helpful): Vahni from Grit and Glamour hands down. I found her maybe a year ago and have just been in awe ever since. She’s so helpful, about anything, and is so kind about it.

4. Newbie (newest blogger less than a year old): Betsy from Miss B Gets Dressed. I love this girl. Can’t even explain it.

5. Can You Hear Me Now (most connected): I’ve gotta give this one up to Collette from Statements in Fashion, creator of Twitter Tuesday and the 411 magazine. She always seems to know what’s going on, who’s doing what and who’s who. But she never seems like she’s not there, if you know what I mean. She responds to my emails, tweets, whatever and it always kind and sincere.

6. If I had a Hammer (best DIY): Erica of PS I made this. I follow her on twitter and am often inspired to make something after she posts!

7. Tribe Leader (blogger who leads others and brings bloggers together): Katy from Modly Chic. FBFF. Need I say more?

8. Practically Perfect (most fashionable): This is very much a personal choice, but I pick Kendi from Kendi Everyday. Even if you wouldn’t wear her outfit in the exact same way (we’re not all blessed with those mile-long legs), you gain inspiration from each of her outfits. Plus, she’s the genius behind 30×30, which so many of us participate in and love.

9. Paint by Numbers (best beauty blogger): Keiko Lynn, simply because I love her makeup Mondays!

10. Renaissance Woman (best all around blogger, fashion, beauty, lifestyle): Sydney from the Daybook. She always posts a mix of everything, and I love her attitude!

If you’re not listed here, it’s not because I don’t love your blog or follow it. Obviously I had to pick only 10 people, and there are at least 200+ I would choose if I could. To see the other nominees, or learn more about FBFF, head over to Modly Chic.

This is the shirt I picked to take place of my long-lost black pants. I swear, I must have a laundry fairy that likes to eat my clothes because I can never find what I’m looking for. That, or I’m just really bad at remembering where I put my clothes. I’m leaning toward the fairy.

I haven’t looked at my blog reader in days, and I’m almost afraid to. I don’t want to read any posts if I can’t comment on them, so I’m saving them up for this weekend. It’s going to be such a fun weekend! Do you guys have plans for the weekend? What are you doing?

Holy crap! Sunlight! I love my new job. I can FINALLY get home before dark. It’s a 30 minute commute now, instead of 60 minutes. It was still cold out today (thus the coat), but I could actually take photos outside again! Yay!

This top takes the place of the black turtleneck I added to my mix, but somehow never found… I also need to replace my black pants, but I’m waiting to see what else I can add instead of those.

Um, that weird area of red snow, yeah, I’m not sure what that is… I didn’t really notice it until later, but I’m pretty sure it’s not blood. Pretty sure…

Don’t forget to join the giveaway and learn more about Paper Doll Project!

PS- I’m really sorry I’ve been slacking on blog comments and visits this week. I’m planning to do a TON this weekend to make up for it!

Blogger meetup! (Ann Arbor edition)

Scarf, belt: H&M

On Friday, I headed out to Ann Arbor for a blogger meetup. We were a mix of fashion/style bloggers and life bloggers. I’ve been following these ladies on twitter on through their blogs for months, so it was awesome to meet them in person.

I met up with Dorothy from Dash Dot Dotty to take some outfits photos, and so we could hang out a little beforehand. She is SO sweet. And she wore the cutest dress (sequins, hello?!). Awesome. (Big thanks for taking my photos!!)

Then, after the meet up, Katie, Vanessa and I decided to take photos together. Because, you know, we’re hams like that. There were very few serious photos. Most turned out like this:

But we did manage to get one nice one!
(last two photos are via Vanessa and her sister)

And there is now an info page about Paper Doll Project. Check it out and sign up for our March style swap!

Allergic reactions, my last day (at my job) and friend friday

It was not my first choice to wear glasses today. My eyes decided to freak out and have been red, runny and itchy for a few days now. I’ve narrowed the culprit down to either my contacts or my mascara. I’m leaning toward the mascara because it’s semi-new and I’ve never used it before, and I won’t be using that brand again! (Clinique, if you’re curious).

Today is my last day at my very first “real” job. I’m sad to leave, but excited to start my new job!

And, good news! For those of you interested in the Paper Doll Project Erin, Liz and I just did, we’re planning to do it again, but we’re going to open it up to anyone else who wants to join! We’re working out the details, but as soon as we have more information we’ll let you guy know 🙂

Now, onto friend friday! This week is all about color (I swear I didn’t write them!!)

1. What color dominates your closet?
Is it wrong to say all of them? Sadly, I don’t have much black or grey, or tons of pastels. I tend to have deep tones mostly.

2. If money weren’t an issue how would you change the color emphasis in your closet?
I would buy more of everything 🙂

3. What is your mantra about mixing colors?
If I like it, I wear it. Anything can match, it just depends on how you want to look at it (can you tell I like color?!)

4. For you, how do you incorporate color into your outfits?
Um, a lot? I’ve worn head-to-toe color, with no neutrals, or I’ve gone so fas as to wear a black dress with colored tights. You can do it however you want, but just do whatever is comfortable to you!

5. Which blogger(s) do you think do a good job of incorporating color into their wardrobe?
Immediately I thought of Louise from Coffee and a Cardigan and  Collette from Statements in Fashion. They both seem to embrace the fun you can have with color, and I [obviously] like that! And, how could I ever forget Jenni from Pixie in Pumps?! She’s like my color twin, although shorter 🙂 (hehehe)

Tight: Olive green, c/o We Love Colors, Spruce green I bought, We Love Colors
Kimchi Blue

Day two of our paper doll project! I really like this. Anyone else want to tell me what to wear? I like not having to think about it 🙂
I don’t know if this really made Erin swoon, but when she instructed me to wear my green tights with this dress she said *swoon.* So that means she really did, right? I also wanted to pay homage to her hair, because she always looks so effortless, and my hair is always a struggle to deal with. For once, it cooperated. Yay!

Check out what I told Liz to wear and what Liz told Erin to wear.

It was about 8 degrees when I got ready for work, which is why I’m wearing two pairs of tights. You can’t really see them, but they’re not the same color. I took a photo to demonstrate.

I’m actually pleased that you couldn’t see the spruce green through the olive green. That means I have on some THICK tights, right? Right.

And I now own an iPhone. My friend upgraded to a 4G and kindly let me buy his 3G. It’s awesome! I can now play Angry Birds on my OWN phone, instead of waiting for Cher to come into town or for the next time I’ll see Emily or Craig. Are there any apps you suggest I download?

PS- I redid my blog layout. I’ve had a few people tell me it’s loading slowly, so I’m fixing that, but please let me know if you see anything else wrong with it. 🙂
